A chance encounter shatters a young man’s understanding of the world he was raised to inherit. In a society reshaped by infection, fear, and government control, his search for identity leads him into a hidden community bound by resilience, secrecy, and chosen family and forces him to confront the cost of choosing his own truth in a world determined to erase people like him.
Tenderness in the dark
Queer resilience
Infection, stigma, secrecy
Survival as identity
Community as rebellion
Emotional transformation
The body as myth
Love as a defiant act
Atmospheric, gritty, intimate
This novel draws from my lived experience as a queer, HIV-positive person and from the many stories queer history has handed down to us. I wanted to write the kind of book I never saw growing up: one where queer identity, crisis, resilience, and community aren’t subplots but the beating heart of the story.
I’m exploring:
The emotional aftermath of crisis
How fear shapes identity
The ways people rebuild themselves
Queer lineage and cultural memory
Transformation - chosen or otherwise
Draft: Complete
Revisions: In progress
World refinement: Ongoing
Beta readers: Upcoming
Cover design: Future!
Current status: Deep in revisions. Refining world building exposition, seeding plot-twists, and tightening the SLS’s mechanisms. This stage is equal parts surgery, alchemy, and screaming into a pillow... in the best way.
I will be sharing behind-the-scenes notes, reflections, and early excerpts on Substack!
